Marlin 30-30

What would be a good asking price for a Marlin 336 30-30cal.? Anywhere from far to mint with and w/o a scope? Also, is there any real value to a Marlin 336 30-30cal. if I was to hold on to it besides personal value?

Depending on how old it is and what kind of shape it's in,I'd guess anywhere between $250 and $325???

also worth more if it dosent have the cross bolt saftey,good guns,to much sectional density for the bullet speed with the older loads,some of the newer loads step it up to a better round,mike243

Just wait till Remington shuts down the Marlin plant ,ya may want to keep for awhile.

I would say $200 for one in working good condition and 250-300 on a real nice one, but some will ask alot more because they paid retail when they bought it. It's not uncommon to see them at the shows for being sold by individuals for $200, but the dealers will want $275-$325 for a used one. If the gun is older you can add value for that. I have a Marlin Lever gun in 35Rem and 450 Marlin and I love them, keep it unless you just really need to sell it. Guns are not just about the ballistics and stats, some guns have history and are just fun to hunt with. Good luck.

It depends on vintage and condition like every thing else. I wouldn't give more than 100-150 for a mechanically good 'beater'. I would expect to pay maybe 350-375 for a pre microgroove 336SC. I think around 200-225 would be a typical price for an average 336. Plateau Hunter

It is a microgroove 336SC...What do you mean Pre??? I guess I need a history lesson..

Marlin came out with the microgroove rifling about 1956 or so I think. Before that time they used what they called Ballard rifling which is a conventional rifling form like in most rifle barrels. It is just a distinction that separates the earlier( probably better made and finished) for the later 336s. The 'SC' has a 2/3rds length magazine which looks better imo. The 'C' has the full length magazine. There are some other variations too like the Texan and Marauder which command a premium because they are scarce. Plateau Hunter

I will have to double check there current catalog but I'am thinking they Might have a 30/30 model now with ballard rifling along with micro groove. I do know they offer both rifelings but can't all the models/calibers straight LOL.

I have one and I don't think I could get $ 50 for it.
Shoots fine,but with a scope it has to be the ugliest rifle on earth.
I also have a Winchester 30-30 with no scope or sling.
It's pretty.

They had two of em at the pawn shop..wanted 250 for em...decent shape nothing special. One had a scope one didnt.
