Well this story is way too big to tell. It's been cat and mouse for a buck since the opener. Hung stand in 3rd spot Saturday and finally got close enough for a shot…. Only to hit liver.. so I watched him bed at 40, try to get up several times then finally stand and take a few labored steps out of sight. I assume he won't move far and may be dead already but I'll wait till morning.. he ain't a tank for horns but has a nice set of hams. Update in the morning.

Good decision backing out. With liver hit, you will find first bed with a lot of blood. After that bed, if he isn't dead in 2nd bed and you lose trail, back out and call the dogs for an easy recovery

Sleepless yes indeed been there done that just last year and couple years before that. But it happens and playing everything over in your head constantly won't change a thing. I know it's easier said than done though. You'll find him tomorrow if he is indeed mortally wounded.

If he's that labored then he'll be dead. I think as long as you didn't cut gut he'll be OK if you get him first thing and get him cooled off.

You make a good point. I don't mind tracking blood at night but I don't like grid searching in the dark. I fear there won't be a lot of blood so I've chose to wait. Although I might as well went and looked because I sure haven't slept any. Haha

This. Last one the blood quit and had to grid search but found him right at 200 yds away. He appeared to have died on his feet cause he was headed up hill.
