Just got to rant a lil. I have seen a total of 5 deer since bow season. I usually see 5 or 6 deer at a time every time out but this year is just weird. Last year I filled all my buck tags and took a couple does as well. I hunt 80 acres in giles mostly woods with about 14 acres of field and Haven't seen but 4 deer there all does. I hunt another small tract in sumner co in portland about 15 acres and only have seen 1 deer there a doe. Seems like the deer have left my farms or my timing just sucks. Last year I was fortunate to hunt 90% of the season this year not so much but I prob have hunted more than some. Anyone else having this problem. Should I start scouting for new spots. On the 80 acres I have 4 diff spots and the 15 just 1 since there the wind is always in my face I have never moved anywhere else really. Im just so frustrated seeing all these deer pics and catman just keeps knocking them down. Got me where I don't want to even log in anymore lol .

I have seen more deer coming from the adjoining property than our property.
It's been very sporadic to say the least.
Opening day of ML I seen 23 deer but has gone to 2-6 per day now.
Only one 110 in buck which I passed cause we have a 120 min. on the club.
I've seen no big does and I have killed nothing!!!!

Another weird thing I did notice the does that I did see were all big mature does and no fawns around and the one doe I saw was alone and mature. I don't think i have seen a fawn at all unless there just really healthy but I doubt that all these were big

I'm in the same boat as u but I'm in NE TN and deer sightings are always few and far between up here for me. Plus I hunt public land alot and the few private tracts I can hunt might as well be public.

up until the last 3 days, I had seen a grand total of 3 fawns and a 45 lb 3 pt. Friday I saw 2 does(killed one) and a unicorn 2 pt. Saturday I saw a doe and button together. sunday I saw a spike.

I would hunt every evening if I worked nights. I work evenings and don't get to hunt at all during the week.

Hang in there. I was having a rough season until this passed Saturday. I seen more deer Saturday and Sunday in Bow range than I did all of bow season.

I can't hunt the evenings my wife does not get off till 630 and I pick my son up from school 245 so most of the time i pick him up and go straight home I hunt the mornings a lot cause I get off at 445 am so I just leave and go straight to the woods from work

I've hunted 21 consecutive hours on four properties in three counties without a deer sighting. I've had long dry spells, but it's unusual with the weather decent. Not discouraged, though. It'll change.

Been a very uneventful season for me too. Got 2 does but deer sightings way down. Yesterday was a good day 3 bucks and a doe this morning 1 buck so far maybe there is hope

that seem like it would be pretty hard to judge on the fly while watching a deer from the stand. those deer move fast sometimes. on our lease we go by total number of points.

How about food sources, have they changed? For instance did you have acorns last yr and maybe none this yr? Crops?

No food source has changed we still have acorns and persimmons we added about a half acre of clover thats about it. I don't know if any of u guys seen the deer that was in the ardmore paper of a huge 10 point, it was killed off the backside of my property by a kid with a crossbow. Only prob I found lately is a couple crossbow arrows on my property. I know we have been getting trespassers so maybe thats part of the problem. There is about 20 acres we have never even touched or walked around on, and Im pretty positive thats where the people are coming from. Maybe the pressure there getting from poachers has caused them to move at night . I got a couple cams setup out there now that I will be checking this weekend hopefully it will give me something.

I spent well over 100 hrs on stand this season without seeing a single deer. I saw NO DEER for the last 3 weeks of bow season. and didn't see one during m/l until Friday having the whole week off and hunting every day but one. probably another 40 hours without seeing a deer.

I had the same year last year! Saw probably 20 deer ALL SEASON. Started thinking I smelled bad or something! Not sure what it was.. just a bad year, I guess. Seeing plenty this year.
It'll get better!

seeing 20 deer in a season around here is a good year. in 2011 I saw a grand total of 5 deer. this year I have seen 9 deer.

Been slower than usual here as well. Started out with a bang, killed a doe opening morning of archery, the wife killed a spike that same evening. My Grandson killed his first deer [a doe] on the Juvi hunt.
Been slower and slower ever since. I've not seen a single deer in the last five or six sits. Went this morning and sat till 12:00.....nothing. No buck sign to speak of and no rutting activity either. My farm is 90% mature timber surrounded by a 13 year old 600 acre clear cut. Since the mast crop was a dismal failure i'm pretty sure most of the deer are in the clear cut eating browse. Our doe recruitment was way off this year as well, on my trail cam survey this Summer and from my personnel observations I've seen a total of one fawn. Both does taken on my farm this year were at least 1.5 and they were both dry. I'm feeling a little remorse for even killing a doe now as it looks like next year will be even worse.
Time will tell, hopefully things will pick up as the season progresses.

I've seen 2, maybe 3 deer all season. Killed 1. Small 7pt. that came to 20 yards and stood broadside. This year has been off. We have no acorns where I'm huntin. I haven't hunted as much this year as years past. But 2012 bow season I saw 15 deer, this year 2.

Yeah its been rough here I've only seen 1 deer so far this season and it was about 60 yards away in some in some pine trees and never even could tell if it was a buck or doe...

I would be in the stand on the right side. It looks like an old overgrown field. I have always liked hunting the overgrown fields. But u would probably have more luck doing the opposite of what I would do because I have been in a deerless 3 year drought.

Here is a better pic of deer trails and places we have never touched or scouted. We have had problems with people trespassing which is why I was a lil hesitant to post this pic and why I photo shopped some of it. Believe me if i could invite some of you guys I would . I only hunt here with my father or alone and way out here it stinks hunting alone. Part of the reason I usually turn down the offer of hunting with others because I feel like I should return the favor but can't. This time next year though will be a different story. Im trying to get land and leases now. Anyway here is the other pic. None of the fields are overgrown all cut and some used for grazing for the cows but mainly the cows are up front never in the back.
