i consider myself a novice to muzzle loading so excuse me if i'm wrong. by mag caps if you mean 209s; they ignite better and they are easier to reload with. sort of like getting a riding mower after you've been push mowing for years.

what kind of powder? i tried them with 777 ffg and they did not work in a t/c black diamond. they ignited great, no hangfires, but groups were about 10" at 100yds, compared to 209's.

I am using 100gr of Shockey gold with a 295gr powerbelt, and a reg #11 cap. results are fine, just trying to decide whether to go with a 209 conv., hotter mag caps, or just leave it as it is. I have never had any trouble, but everyone keeps saying how much more dependable 209's are. Anybody tried it, is it worth it?
