Had a great evening up until the shot. Had deer moving from the time I got to the stand. I had a tall beautiful young 9 and a pretty good 10 come i. They bowed up once but never fought the 10 was the more aggressive deer. Anyway 23 yards broadside can't ask for any better shot. Release the arrow and that's where it went downhill. Up and down the shot was good but I must have pulled left cause the arrow entered just in front of the back hip and stuck in the offside hip. It bled immediately as I could see it from the stand. Followed blood for about 60 yards and then it dried up. I am holding out hope I hit the artery due to the bright red blood. He went into a jungle so I plan to go back tomorrow and search. Didn't find arrow so I assume its still in him. I am bummed but plan on exhausting all efforts to find him. Hate to be that guy but do any of y'all have any suggestion?

I was not able to get off work so I am watching the clock and headed straight there at 2:30. I laid wide eyed most of the night replaying the shot and everything felt good. I am gonna sling some shots before I go again just to make sure its not a equipment error. I shot an 8 pt 2 wks ago and relatively the same distance and hit it about as good as you can. But I will keep yall updated later tonight.

I got to tell yall though the 9 pt that was with him has all the makings of an absolute stud. I really hope he gets another year of life at least. Hes a deer at first glance you think shooter but after studying him another year he will blow. I may never see him again as these 2 bucks were new and had never been on camera but I hope to. He actually probable scores better now than the deer i shot but side by side you could tell who the more dominant deer was.

Well there is somewhat of a happy ending. I did recover the deer, in my opinion a great deer. Unfortunately the yotes had found him also. He went to the creek and died there. He really didn't go but about 100 yards. I'm glad I didn't push him and glad I found him just not happy about not being able to enjoy the meat. I guess nothing goes to waste in nature though. I do feel better that I recovered him I've been bummed all day.

It's a shame you couldn't of gone earlier today. Probably would of had the same outcome though as the yotes probably found him last night.
At least you have closure now. Glad you found him.

I'm glad you found him. It really does suck when the meat goes to waste, but in the case of a buck, at least you got the antlers to take home. Hope you get another one for the meat soon. Plenty of critters will enjoy that deer meat lying in the woods, to look on the bright side

Yea I am happy that I got to recover him. It was a good hunt and now I have an ending to it. This is the 4th good buck I have or a family member has killed since I bought the property 4 yrs. ago. It's nice to be able to watch deer grow up and pass deer like the other 9 pt. to see what hopefully happens to him. Not getting the meat does suck as it was going to a buddy of mine but I should have no problem getting him some more before the end of season.

Yes it hit right in front of back hip and stuck in off side hip getting the artery. Gonna go shoot later just to make sure it's not my bow but I'm pretty sure I just pulled the shot.
