this morning makes the 7th time bunch of mutts have ran a deer by my tree stand. it thick and hard to catch the deer without them running. 2 Bucks 2 weeks same mutts and i tried and missed him. looked for 2 hrs to make sure i missed. i can't hit running mutts anymore than i can hit running deer. i paid hard money for my ML lic. i am about to take my shotgun with all my buckshot and see what i can do about my and the neighborhoods problems! the wardens need to look over yonder fer a poacher or spotlighter

I heard an awesome chase today. Don't know if it was a deer they were after or if it was someone running beagles getting ready for this week end's rabbit opener. Enjoyed listening to them as they were on the neighbors property and not mine.

After reading the writings about thick cover, close in deer hunting with classic doubles in front of dogs by the likes of gentlemen such as Robert Ruark, Nash Buckingham, Archibald Rutledge, and John Sloan, a craving has been flung on me to experience it for myself.

Just kidding on that last writer, had to throw him in for effect. Don't believe Bowriter ever wrote anything pertaining to deer hunting with dogs or buckshot. Might've done an early article once on hunting dogs with buckshot. He was probably in camp with Nash, sipping on spirits while sitting around the fire when the idea for the story came up, just prior to an argument occurring over who's turn it was to fetch up another log and stoke the coals. Perhaps he'll write one. Someone tell him it's a deductible expense on his taxes so he'll do it.
