ey guys,

I am brand new to trapping and really excited about the opportunity and challenges it presents. I am primarily interested in yotes (especially until the fall) and was hoping to get some specific advice on lure types (and brands), bait and urine brands.

I am looking for an assortment of attractants (5-6) for me to play around with for different types of sets to figure out what I like best (and what works!).

Here is the following list I have compiled to get me started. Let me know what you guys think (don't like, recommend as a replacement, know nothing about it, etc.).

O'Gormans Powder River Paste Bait
Carman's Canine Call
Hawbaker's Coyote Lure No. 500
Hawbaker's Red Fox Gland Lure
Caven's Yodel Dog
Minnesota Brand Coyote Urine

Am I a little heavy on a type of lure or missing a basic necessity for a common set? I appreciate all of the advice!!

I have caught more yotes on Yodel Dog than all other of my lures put together, and I have got a LOT of them. Looks like a good selection to me. I like to mix and match and give them some different smells, Have fun and go put some steel in the ground. Good Luck

I put Yodel Dog as other lures down dirt holes and at post sets. I usually smear a little on the edge of the dirt hole or on the bottom of a post set on the side where the trap is bedded. IMO The BIG thing is to bed the trap solid. Sometimes I can get one bedded pretty fast but other times it seems to take forever. Just take your time and have fun. Good Luck
