I just bought a new to me boat. It came with 2 Lowrance HDS units. One is a HDS 7 Gen 2. The other is a HDS 5 Gen 2. I know very little about boat electronics. Are these good units? Outdated?

Good units but out of date and small scren sizes
Like bluball said - they're out of date.
However, they may work fine for you - it depends on how you intend to use them. For 2D sonar? You'll probably be fine.
For side imaging? You'll want to upgrade.
