Low ph! Does this keep me

from planting anything on my plots? Gonna have the soil turned and add 3 tons of lime per acre during the next 2 weeks. Will I need to wait 6 months before planting or are there other options available for now?

Buckwheat.It will do fine and help build yhour soil,and help shade out grasses from coming in

do not loose any sleep over the ph short term, do your lime, fertilizer and planting, plots will be sorta ok as you build the soil back up

Thanks for the input. I will plan on buckwheat for now and wait till ph comes up to work on some clover.

No experience at all. Is there something special I need to know. I am about a third of the way through the QDMA food plot book now.

Wait to plant til after the threat of frost. Usually, end of april first of may. Seeding rate is 50 lbs per acre. Buckwheat will only last 45 to 60 days and then its mature. Typically, the best thing to do is if you plant first of may,.. go back in the first of july and bush hog and lightly disc,.. and it reseeds itself for a second crop,.. which will last you til first of september. At that time,.. bush hog and plant whatever you want!!
