Your arrows may not be the right spine for 72lbs.

yep. too light of an arrow will make the bow loud and may damage the bow.
spine and weight are to different things, but my arrows are 340 spine and 9.0 grains per in

Why not back it back to the quiet 65#s? It should still shoot clean through any whitetail, and the extra speed at 72#s won't compensate for the jumping the string issues from a loud bow. And, if you happen to hunt in some really cold weather I can almost promise you that you won't find that 72#s as easy to pull when the temps dip below freezing.

Like others, I'm guessing your arrow is on the light side for that poundage.

One product I really like are the neoprene limb covers by QAD (Quality Archery Design). The do help quieting things down a little, and do a tremendous job in protecting your limbs from scrapes and scratches while hunting. I have them on both of my bows.

I'll check into those covers for my bow too. Mine makes a fairly loud thump when I shoot. Not sure what I can do to change my problem. I'd have to put a STS on it, but it would have to be a front mount system.

There is more energy delivered when you crank the poundage up and if you don't increase arrow weight proportionally then it will definitely get louder, which is one of the reasons why I don't have my bow cranked up. A heavier arrow will absorb the energy. I would be cautious of shooting too much poundage for the arrow weight you're shooting. You could be simulating dry fire. I wouldn't shoot anything less than 5 grains per pound. Really more like 8 or 9.
