It's been almost a week since my son's shooting house was taken and most people would have cooled off by now but not me. I am getting angrier by the day. I even heard someone tell me that they overhead the farmer bragging about getting it but I gave him a call and got nothing but "F you's" and threats from him. He is about the almighty dollar so I am sure he sold it to somebody. I have taken the social media route at recovering it. Since all this I have literally lost the urge to even go. So to all of you I wanted to put on deer this season I am sorry if I don't get in contact with you. I always try and do all the right things when it comes to hunting and when something like this happens it leaves a sour taste in my mouth.
 
I feel your pain . Karma is a *itch. Who ever got it will get what's coming to them sooner or later./ Don't let them win by not going. Go out and shoot something you'll feel better.

So let me get this straight. You have property you hunt on. You have hunting rights and the farmer has farming rights? Neither one of you own the property? Does the owner of the property know all this? If so why won't he contact the farmer and ask him about it?
 
Thanks guys. My son keeps asking me every day to go hunting in his house and I dread when I have to tell him it's gone. He had toys and candy he left in it too.

When the guy that owned it died several years back he left 6 sections to all of his kids. One of the Grand kids and me are close friends and his mother one of the aiers contacted everyone else to make sure it was OK if we hunted there. All said yes.The main family member contacted the farmer and he is denying it of course. Thing is the farmer contacted the owner one week before asking him if he knew the shooting house and scaffolding were out there and he told the farmer he knew the shooting house was but not the scaffolding. So days later both come up missing.

That sucks. He'll pay for it one way or another. Just stay sane because you have more to lose if you did something to get even. I see alot of farmers who have "farming" rights think they have the right to give out "hunting" rights also. There 2 different rights and they need to realize it.
 
Crappy things happen in life to good people for no apparent reason. The important thing is how those good people deal with it.

I ain't trying to preach, and I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but if it was me I'd take this as a teaching moment, and go hunting with your son.
 
that sucks man. it will come back and get him. I wouldn't let him get to you as bad as it is you're having a heck of a season just get back in there and do the thing you enjoy. karma will get him. it does suck bad though. hope you the best man.
 
No way, man. No way. Rise above that crap. He may steal your blind, but don't let him steal your drive. That's giving up way too much power. Obviously your feelings are understandable, but show your daughter that nothing gets her daddy down.

I understand but as cold as it is getting that shooting house is the only place that he could stay warm enough to sit in. He couldn't stand it up in a tree (not like I would let him at 4 anyway).
 
i was wondering the same thing. does he hunt the property? what does he farm? food crops or hay? does he know less deer=better yield?

No he doesn't hunt. From what every other farmer has told me he likes being a A-hole all the time and does a little farming on the side. He tried planting soybeans but only 1 out of 5 fields actually produced.
 
Sounds like a complicated situation since the land has now been divided into 6 pieces with no single owner who can lay down the law regarding limitations to the farmer. Also sounds like the land owner may have given a mixed message - maybe not intentional - regarding what the3 farmer could haul away when talking about the shooting house and scaffolding collectively. With some people that's all it takes. The farmer probably took the owners saying that he didn't know who the scaffolding belonged to as being the same as "Get rid of all that stuff out there". I know people like that. What is so stupid is what this farmer gets out of doing this to you if he don't hunt and grows crops that your hunting will improve the yield on?

Still, looks to me as if any long term solution is going to have to come from the landowners. If they don't tell the farmer to leave your stuff alone, then you'll never be able to walk away from any stands without wondering if he's going to take them. In my simplistic world, the farmer has to abide by the rules of the landowners or he loses the land for farming. Hit a guy in the wallet and he is way more likely to listen.
 
You know, it soounds tome like there are too many people involved in the whole thing. I would be looking for another place to hunt. But in the meantime, I would remember that a lot of people hunted before they ever had shooting houses. I just go hunting.
 
Get a sleeping bag and hot hands, and take your son and hunt from the ground the last hour of the day Thursday or Friday when it's a little warmer.

To him, 30 minutes would be a thrill, even if you don't see anything.
 
Oh I plan on hurting him hard in his wallet. I told him his farming career will soon end and I wasn't joking. I am a bad person when it comes to payback. His farm went bankrupt last year and he hid some of his equipment (plow, spreader, Bailey, etc) from the bank. I found it all and got in contact with the bank and gonna take them to it all. Next he screwed another farmer out of $8000 and he wants payback. So he and I are gonna go offer the owners $75 per acre to farm everything and is gonna pay up front. A number no possible way the present farmer can pay. I may not get my house back but I will get the last laugh.
