Made an 18 yard shot on a huge buck this morning just after 8:am. He had a good 5 inches of mainbeam outside his ears and a good 10 inches of brow tine. Saw the arrows impact, found an awesome foamy bright blood trail. Followed it for 200 yards and it just stopped. This deer ran into the thicket from hell, that is saw briar, laurel and deadfalls. It's impossible to see anything on the ground. We tried to grid the place out from 9:30 am to 4:pm with no luck. That deer is lying dead in there somewhere. We've probably walked by him a dozen times today. I'm sick to my stomach.
