Bush hogged the brush/weeds on my 9 ac.
Now the part I mowed looks dead.

Wonder if I am good to go to plant or if I will still need to disc?

What are you planting? Don't know what you are doing but did you spray it? Depending what you are planting I would disc just to get better seed to soil contact. I have to broadcast everything I do and the results aren't as good as when I have disced other plots. Btw have more info on a dude for your barn.

didnt spray. Just bush hogged the knee to head high weeds and let the lack of rain do the rest.

If I knew what I was doing, I would have it burned but I am afraid of a BSK experience. :D

Going to plant clover over most of it. Wheat/rye on the rocky sections.( 1-2 ac )

And the 1/2 ac behind the house by the salt block will get some DER and winter peas for wild life viewing.

Im hoping the grass will fill in the rest of the pasture areas for cattle next spring. I hate to put any fescue down but I don't know a good alternative for cattle grazing.

Are you going to broadcast the seed? If so, and you have a heavy thatch layer on the field from mowing, then expect fairly poor results. If you have some bare ground exposed, then it could be alright. Don't know what type of equipment you have, but if you have a tractor that is big enough and that has hydraulic remotes, a no-till drill would be the way to go. You can drill the clover/wheat/rye all at the same time, and the drill has coulters (trash plows) to cut through a heavy thatch layer so you'll get seed to soil contact.

The best time to overseed clover by broadcast methods would be in the late Winter.

Thanks for the heads up. Some areas have a lot of thatch/trash, others are pretty clear as they were mostly weeds and less brush.

Ill see about renting a no-till drill. Will a 36hp be big enough?
