looking for Remington youth model 7 .260 cal

would like to buy my soon to be 7yo son the .260 for his birthday, would prefer the ss/syn but would take the wood/blued. would also would consider the 7mm-08 if I can't locate the .260 maybe some of you guys have one tucked away that you don't use any more or perhaps a friend, any help or leads would be very appreciated. e-mail me @ [email protected]

Good luck with your search, I have been searching for over 6 months now, gun shops, dealers, on-line, etc. rare as hens teeth..............in a 7mm-08.

Remington stopped production of the laminated stock & SS version.

Only 3 styles in production right now, syn/blued, CDL/Blued & the Predator (camo/blued)

The have only @ 6 of the original 12 or 15 calibers avail. as well for the 2011 line up.

Guys that have them are not parting with them and they are in high demand at this time.

I am afraid I will have to order one direct from the factory in 7mm-08 if I am to get one.

I bought a .260 stainless synthetic for my wife, she loves it. FULLDRAW is right, they are very hard to find and if you do, you pay through the nose for them.

I would say best chance to find a used one would be 24hourcampfire classifieds section.

I looked for over a year for a stainless synthetic model 7 in .243, I finally found one in OREGON! Paid out the yang for it, but it was the only one I had seen in a long time.

Make sure you get the 20" version, it doesn't seem like the extra inch and a half would make a difference but the difference is huge.

That was the other thing I noticed, they only are avail. in a 20" barrel(new) all calibers.

I am on a waiting list with three gun broker sites, for a 7mm-08 for my son. I would never have expected this.................

I think all SS are 20 inch and the wood/blue ones are 18.5 no matter what cal.

Darrin, if Bud's has them go ahead and get one pronto. Unless your very lucky, your not going to find one floating around often. Bud's is usually reasonable as well.

I bought my sons both Model 7's when they were 10 years old. The older son got a 308 and the younger got a 243. Absolutely awesome guns, both in stainless and purchased 3 years apart.

rumor is very few SS models in 308 were made before they went to the 4 mount hole action

Checked out rem 700 lss in 260, beautiful lightweight guns with wood. I think you will like them and will find them more eye appealing that plastic and just as light- 6.5 lbs

Get the 260 if you can. I've got one in the Ruger M77 compact, and I love it, but the 16.5" barrel has quite the bark, and I lose about 150 fps. I'm seriously considering buying a Savage in 260, or perhaps a Marlin XS7 and get a custom barrel for it. Yes, call me crazy, but I like the 260 that much that I think it might be worth the cost of the custom barrel just to have that calibre rather than 7mm-08.

The 260 Ruger Compacts are still out there (I believe Bud's has some) but I believe these too have been discontinued. They are great guns; mine are 260 and 243.

I purchased my ss in 308 in 95 in georgia when my oldest was 10 and it was a used one, couldnt tell it, for about 410 bucks and i thought i got a deal since it was stainless. Man, he loves that gun.

I agree. This pic was taken as soon as I ot home from the pawn shop, where I bought the 243 with a Redfield 3-9X40 for $300...the Redfield is now in a box and the rifle is carrying a Burris FF II 2-7X35.

The top gun has a Leupold VX-I 2-7X33.
