Just in case you buy any ammo, better open the box before you leave.

I went to Academy Sports to pick up 1500 rounds of 7.62x39mm on sale at $2.99 a box. My son (23 yrs. old) just wanted some ammo to rip through his new AK47. Anyway.....................

While I was there I saw a youth .243 with 3x9 scope for $199 and got to thinking. A friend was looking for his son a gun. So after seeing the rifle I checked the prices of the ammo on the shelf and happened to open a box of the Winchester .243 to look at it. Then looked at another box. I even carried it to the sales counter and showed them. They weren't impressed. Said "get another box".........."NO! I told them, you better find out if this is a manufacture flaw or something! This shouldn't even be on the shelf looking this bad. It may be the entire shipment you have."

This stuff was HORRIBLE! It looked like amateurs reloading gone wild! The brass was all pitted, discolored and some pits looked like they had rust in them. (Can't figure that with brass) But there's NO WAY I would pay retail for that crap.

Just a word to the wise. If you buy any new ammo in the near future, you might want to open it and look inside before paying. I HAVE NEVER SEEN such bad looking ammo off the shelf in my 27+ years of buying.

i second that. was looking at some silvertips and about 4 out the box had split necks, 2 rounds missing in some boxes. split necks is serious trouble. i wonder if winchester has some quality control issues. makes me wonder about the powder charges too.

I had a buddy buy a box of Win. Silvertips at Wal-mart and when he got home he found out somebody had switched the silvertips with rem corlokts.
