Whats the longest shot you have taken on ANY game animal?

The longest shot I have ever taken but missed was in wayne county tn. It was day 5 of a 7 day either sex hunt and I was on a ridge top glassing the opposite side of a valley. I see 2 white flags running up the ridge and stop so then propped up my remington 700 CDL-SF LE .30-06 and had to make a quick guesstimate of the range. I figured it was somewhere around 700 yards. I knew my ballistics with the load I was using out to 500 yards so I added a few extra feet of elevation. Popped off a round and the bullet hit about 12" below the deer. I didnt really care that I missed but for a average/intermediate shooter like myself, I was happy that I had even got that close at that range.

The longest kill shot Ive made was about 140 yards, not too far but the shooting window I had was about the size of a basket ball through the tops of some pine trees between the ridge I was on and the ridge the deer was on.

210yds on a running doe the last 10 minutes of the 2008 deer season w/an iron sighted Marlin .308mx. She dropped in her tracks. It was a desperation shot (do or die if you will), but I was confident in my abilities.

I once killed a guy in Laos from more than a mile out in high winds. Wasn't but 1 maybe 2 guys in the world could have made that shot. ;) Seriously bout 100yds. is the farthest deer ever taken.

i have killed 2 deer at about 420 yds. i usually won't take such a shot but all conditions were perfect. solid rest, feeding deer, NO wind.
other than those 2 shots,i would say about 125 yds is the longest.

Carlos, I normally take rifle shots at less than 50 yards as I tend to hunt thickets. The 100 yard shot I took was very rare. I just happened to be walking out of the woods in the middle of the day when I saw a group of does moving around on another ridge. I simply sat down and took the shot.

A 100 yard bow shot?

800 yards offhand at at coyote with a .280... held about 4 feet over his back, still wasn't enough. That was back before I really started shooting medium to long range.

Longest real shot was a couple of years ago on a doe at 640 yards. A little different setup with a dedicated long-range rig, prone off a bipod and rear sandbag. Bang-flop, DRT center of shoulder.

Probably more amazing was in a single year I killed a buck with a bow at 3 yards (from the base of the tree, linear distance was probably 5 yards due to my elevation in the tree), a buck with a ML off the ground at 4 yards, and another buck with a rifle off the ground at 5 yards!

Mule deer in Montana at around 400 yards with 30-06 using a 55grn accelerator. Aimed at the spine above heart/lung area, expecting drop. Hit the spine and he dropped like a sack of potoatoes.

Two lessons learned from that one.
1st: Know your ballistics.
2nd: Some bullets just move to fast and blow up on impact.

Longest shot was 320 with a .300 mag. We were doing a drive and one busted out running and i drilled it. Pure luck. Longest that was skill was 288 with 7 mm/08. I held just below the backbone and centered the heart.

I would guess I have killed over 40 deer over 300 yards,,probably 12-15 over 400 with the longest I can confirm at 485,,

I killed 2 does and a buck one day at 410-415 and 440,,with Ethans Model 7SS 20 inch 308 with 168 Hornady BTHP Match bullets over 46 grs AA2520,,all in about 90 seconds,,I was in a shooting house with my little buddy heater and some lead shot sand bags,

I killed a spike one time that I never got a range on,but I was shooting a 25-06 with 100 NBT at 3400 fps zeroed at 300 yards and I held 2 feet high and hit it square in the shoulder,,DRT,

killed 4-5 groundhogs over 500 and the longest shot I ever connected on was a crow ..

Approx. 400 yd + Bull Elk kill with a 7mm mag 150 gr Noz Ballistic Tip. Aimed at the top of his back hit him in the boiler room, dropped in his tracks.

When I first mover to west tn from east tn I was hunting over a crp field that had been burned off when little 8 point walked out I guesstimated him at about 100 yards using a 06 shot dropped drt never moved. stepped it off at 248 yards, The Field I was in turned out to be 310 yards long I don't know that I have ever hunted a field that big until then.

My farthest just under 300 yards. When I save up enough money for something other than this darn recurve bow, I might try to stretch it out a bit. ;)

Longest made 230ish,longest tried 500-600 missed judged range bad, thought maybe 350 and held for it hit behind the hoof. Both pre laser range finder days.Had I had it for the longest likely wouldn't have tried it.

700 yards with a 308 bull barrel. Bullet was a 165 gr Speer loaded with 45 gr of Varget powder. Shot her off the handle bars of the four wheeler.
