The seasonal forecasting group I keep an eye on (because they get the general weather patterns for a season right about 2 out of the 3 times) forecast that October would be warmer than normal, but a big change would occur late in the month and November would see colder than normal temps. They forecast this back in the summer. That group now says they think they see that change coming late this week into the following week.

Unfortunately, they are also forecasting a much warmer than normal December (record high temps) with winter not setting in until January.

I would LOVE to see colder than normal temps for November. Personally, I couldn't care less about December, as our rut is over by then, but I know lots of hunters in the southwestern part of the state and along the southern border have a December rut.
 
Sounds descent enough. As long as it's cooler than normal starting about 11/5 throughout November, I'll be a happy man. Then again about 12/15 - 12/25. We see a big surge again in that time period.

The group I watch doesn't make location-specific forecasts. They make country-wide seasonal predictions. Basically, they are trying to forecast the "trends" that often set up in specific regions of the country during a month or a full three-month season (fall, winter, spring, and summer).

So essentially what happened last year......
 
Love to see a cold November. I'm on a lease in Marshall County and IMO the chasing really picks up during rifle season.
 
My local "rut month" is Oct. 28th to Nov. 28th. After that, daylight buck movement is virtually nonexistent.
 
They really didn't mention it UTGrad, which to me, seemed strange. Although they did suggest the Ohio River Valley could see a significant ice.

I really hate ice storms.

I hunt southern Giles/Lincoln and in northern Limestone in Alabama. It usually starts then but if you'll notice there are more mature bucks killed the first week of December. My farm in Limestone is always first 2 weeks of December. It's only bout 4 miles south of TN line. I have seen a good rut drag out from Thanksgiving til Christmas in AL. But that was years ago and a cold December.
