Im planning on building my first AR. I have a buddy who has a couple and can help put it together, but am looking for a little more technical advice before I start to move on this.

I am wanting a long range (for 223) rig. Hopefully 600 yard plus gun. Im wanting to use it mostly for yotes but also as a back up deer rifle.

Id also like to mount a scope with the turret style dial set to the specific load for yardage.

So far I am thinking Ill want a 24 in 1:8 twist barrel to shoot the heavier (69 grain I think) bullets. Is this correct? Manufaturer recomendations?

Also what trigger assemblys will be ideal for this. Id really like something equivelent to a Jewell.

Anyways, some of you out there with experience feel free to thrown in advice, tell me where Im disillusioned or being impractical. Im set on the 223 bc I want to be able to shoot a good bit for cheaper than a 308. Thanks and y'all have a good one.
 
I went with Reminton's R-15 .223 22" barrel, but it hasn't come in yet. 600 seems like quite a poke for an AR, but there again I'm new at this. I think .308 is a bit much for yotes because like you said it is more costly round but also I think follow up shots will be easier with the .223 due to less recoil. just my 2
 
Get the Timney drop in trigger unit. 600 yds for an experienced shooter is just getting warmed up for an AR, it can easily be done.I'd get a 22" fluted 1:7 twist,free float handguard, top rail, and a 7 slot bottom rail for a bipod. Brownells has an awesome,FREE, series on AR builds. Start to finish, on the site.
 
The JP Fire Control trigger is really nice but they've gotten up there in price. Used to have to qualify at 500 yds with open sights every year in the marines so 600 with a scope shouldn't be unreasonable.
