was marking another area for clear cut this afternoon, heard the loggers leave and as I drove out I stopped at one of the areas for a new food plot and here they came. Taken with iphone while setting in truck

Had my place select cut late last fall and early this spring and the loggers said the deer come right in and aren't afraid when the skidders are fired up. Sometimes they have to wait for them to walk by before continueing. Go figure!

I have heard the same thing from loggers over the years.

When I lived in Michigan a neighbor cut cedar trees on our property in winter for posts. The cedar is a preferred food in winter to starving deer and the deer would feed on just-cut tops while the cutter was still cutting on trees within a short distance. I bet the deer thought a chainsaw was a dinner bell. In the North food is a limiting factor to deer survival and we would find numerous carcassas in the spring from deer that didn't make it through the winter.

Been my experience as well, deer [especially during the off season] are curious creatures for sure.

I think its the constant hum or sound of machinery, I have rode on many combines and cotton pickers and watched deer emerge from cover into the open areas, most machinery operators in my area will have a rifle with them, its just the way those guys roll
