Local Processor Says They Are Full

The local processor in Dunlap says they have 200 deer waiting to be processed. I'd sure like to know who is doing all the killing. I'm not even seeing stuff that I won't kill.

I helped my buddy drag one out last Saturday. He ended up quartering it himself cause all the ones he called weren't taking any more right now.

My youngest daughter and I processed 2 deer ourselves on black friday...

Made a ton of 90/10 deer/ Boston butt ground, plus 30lbs of Havarti cheese, chives, and minced onion smoked sausage.

I haven't seen much of nothing. Much less have to worry about a processor. I hope to have that problem tomorrow. But I've been hoping for it and it hasn't happened yet. if I can take sitting and not seeing anything again it'll be a miracle. Really starting to drive me crazy.

I think the key to filling the freezer is waiting (and FINDING) the primary food source in 2 weeks... not much point in burning yourself out when deer are being so screwey this year.

They will settle back into a feeding pattern soon, and THEN its time to fill the freezer!

Next trip up i plan on killing 5 or 6 does on the farms that need it.

I wonder if the news of CWD reaching the area had any effect on taking any more?

They posted that they are back open. I had not heard about CWD in our area yet. Has it been found here?

Same here in SW TN. For many hunters, processor availability dictates what the hunter will or will not shoot the following day (s).

One in pikeville was taking deer or Amish in Dunlap unless it got full the last couple days

P3 was the one that was full, but they opened back up today. The Mennonites were still taking them.

Well I thought I had heard that it had, but the only news I can find is that it had been found in Decatur of late.

Oh I see it now, it's Cecil's thread down below where it said CWD has been found in East TN. I just took that as it was close to us.
