1st elk, using 165 TSX, missed about 40 yards, he was one in a group of about 50 elk that tried to trample me at almost 10,000 ft.. .. Scared me to death.. 1st bullet missed and by the time i could get a 2nd shot off he was about 250 yards quartering away running down a mountain.. Hit him in too far back in right side and it traveled up through him, stopping in his neck. It was a terrible shot, and not an immediate kill, but end result the same. He went another 100 yards before going down. Bullet did lots of internal damage, and although I did not weigh it, you could tell it retained a lot of its weight
2nd elk, using 168 TTSX, was standing broadside at 300 yards with a herd. Shot him right behind shoulder, through both lungs, exited the other side.. He dropped 15 yards from where I shot him. Entry and exit hole was small, but destroyed his lungs
killed a nice deer with my 300 wsm this year, again using 168 TTSX. Shot was about 60 yards and it left a huge exit wound. I could easily put a coke can through his ribs on the exiting side.
