Alright guys im new to the livescope. I'm new to fishing lakes and river. I have a boat I put livescope on and putting a side image Garmin on tomorrow. Wanting to get after crappie and bream. Plan to fish tn river/ky lake Britton ford birdsong and stuff like that. What's best way to get started. I went with a buddy that was still fairly new and was just as lost as when I started. We caught fish but didn't get the whole idea of it. Ik a fast learner and can prolly figure a lot out on my own. What's best way to find beds/mats. Is it better to find schools and cast into them or find few fish and "snipe" them with the longer rods and chase them down. A lot of questions together I know. I'm on 12 hour midnights and didn't want to make 10 different posts but will if I need to. Thanks for any help in advance

Solid advice here. If you fishing ky lake just look for the stake beds. They are everywhere. Start out about 30 foot away and cast into the beds. You can use your livescope to see what beds have fish. The main thing is be patient and prepared not to catch fish with it right out of the box. It takes most people a couple years to fully understand it. That's why having someone take you and show you would shorten the learning curve.
From my limited experience the trick seemed that you have to keep the fish the boat, the LS cone and the jig all in line long enough to get the jig in to the fish so he can see it and you can see him take the jig with all of them moving in different directions.
make sure you have some good mapping, keep it updated and set the depth offset. its gonna get nairy on ky lake this year. forget the livescope for bluegill and shellcracker until they go back deep. people screw up by trying to sidescan beds and spook the piss out of them.

PM me and we can discuss. Don't mind at all showing you what I know if we can make our schedules align. I have a place at BF and primarily fish up to the powerlines and South to Country Junction.
Aside from that my best advice would be to spend the money on a guide not neccesarily for "catching fish" but learning your electronics and let the fish catching be the bonus....it will pay dividends in the long run!
If that is not an option, set a goal to strictly go out to learn your electronics. Take 1 pole rigged for single pole fishing to get familiar with direction and what your bait looks like on the screen. Honestly time on the water is your friend....the ones who give up or get disgruntled don't take the time to put the effort in to learn it.
It is an art and it will teach things you "thought" you knew of how fish reacted!! Just because you see them does not mean they will bite or you are going to fill the cooler.
I have been where you are at and know the struggle. From livescoping to turkey hunting and everything in between I have never been fortunate enough to have a "mentor" but yet learned it with blood sweat and tears.
I can take you just in the BF cove and within 2-3 hours you will have a better understanding no doubt.
