Newbie here... moved here last year and wasn't able to hunt but been needing some clarification on what I'd need to bowhunt and maybe gun??? If I get an annual sportsman will I need to buy archery and gun big game also?? And if I were to bowhunt during any concurrent seasons such as muzzy or rifle would a big game gun permit be required also??? Got some private to possible hunt but want to be legal on any wma and such... thanks

In TN, you need a hunting and fishing license plus supplemental licenses for the weapon you intend to hunt with, regardless of what big game you intend to hunt.

If you have established your residence here, (mail, drivers license, etc)
You need:
Proof of hunter safety course if born after 1968
And
001 to hunt small game and fish
And
010 to hunt big game with archery equipment
And
009 to hunt big game with a firearm.

If you hunt public land or want to kill does with a rifle, add a 094.

Muzzleloader and archery seasons do not require the 094 for killing does unless you are on a WMA that requires it (and most do). Muzzleloader is a separate supplemental (011) from firearm.

The sportsman's license is all inclusive of state licenses and permits but not for federal duck stamps or permits required for hunting some federal properties.

No.
That's the beauty of the Sportsman's License!
It covers everything EXCEPT the Federal Migratory Waterfowl Stamp!

When you purchase your Sportsman's License, be sure to tell them you intend to hunt migratory birds.
(That still does NOT cover the Federal Migratory Waterfowl Stamp, but does allow you to hunt migratory birds such as doves.)

I almost forgot that SOME federally managed WMA's are NOT covered by the TN Sportsman's License.
These would included (but not limited to just these) LBL, Ft. Campbell, and all National Wildlife Refuges which allow any hunting.

Not sure what part of the State you're living, and/or planning to do most your hunting/fishing,
but . . . . . .
I see quite a few tickets being issued annually at LBL and the Reelfoot WMA & Reelfoot NWR areas,
due to those hunting & fishing there not paying acute attention to the unique "permits" of these two areas.

Whether you have a Sportsman's License or not,
you need an LBL permit to hunt or fish inside LBL's boundaries.

Reelfoot is a bit more complicated because large portions are TWRA-managed "State" WMA
while a large portion is a Federal National Wildlife Refuge,
with both areas containing both "woods & water".
If you do NOT have a Sportsman's License, you additionally need a TWRA-issued (state) "Reelfoot Preservation Permit".

Should you either hunt or fish on the federally managed portion of Reelfoot,
regardless whether you have a Sportsman's License or not,
you additionally need the federally-issued Reelfoot National Wildlife Refuge User Permit.

And to make it even more complicated at Reelfoot,
some of the boundary between the "state" vs. "federal" portions are essentially just arbitrary lines across water due to the signs being far apart and sometimes missing.

Appreciate the response guys.... im up in Macon county but was looking to hunt cordell hull, ,standing stone, alpine mountain, and possibly jackson swamp...
