it wouldnt be as bad if TN wasnt already one of the HIGHEST in the nation for resident hunters. Now it will be the highest and what are hunters getting for this price increase? are there going to be more lands and access, is it going to clean up areas that are not currently maintained better? will it create more opportunity for hunters? We all know the answer there. I know to many guys that work in the TWRA that tell me some of the crazy inefficiencies and wasteful spending and corruption from departments for $. These are not conspiracy stories or 2nd hand info, half of them have already left there for other employment it was so bad. So instead of fixing some of that they will just put it on the customer base to keep paying for it, that is where it goes all over me.

If you have a plan laid out as to how this increase will actually help hunters and wildlife Id be all for it but the TWRA doesnt really have a plan other then the current status quo. Now I understand they dont get tax money etc like other states but even still, $200 for a resident to hunt each year and at the same time lose land and access each year just blows my mind.

I do agree if we were given more land to hunt. Which in turn would give us more hunting opportunities. Then l would be happy to give them more money. I want more public land to hunt on. Northeast TN has very little land to hunt besides the national forest. It's not owned by the state. I would love to have more TN WMA's in this part of TN.

Not me….Cheap fines ….I pay less on our 50 acres than an out of state license cost to legally hunt it.

That is correct. It is called Hunt Own Land & each person that qualifies has to own 40 acres. The price is right at 1/2 of the usual cost for a Nonresident.

Knew they had it but wasn't sure how much acreage. I bought the IL lifetime like 30 years ago. It is still good even though I'm not a resident any more. At one point years later if you bought a lifetime license and moved out of state it was not honored unless you move back in state. In IL it is just a hunting and fishing license. You still have to buy permits/tags and stamps. Good thing is buying that license years ago I'm still considered a resident (even though I'm not) so I'm in the resident drawings and pay resident fees for permits and tags.
I also have the IN lifetime license. It is good even though I'm not a resident there. It is for hunting and fishing plus any permits/tags and stamps you need and covers any new permits/tags and stamps they add in the future. A great deal.

Great that you are entitled to put in the resident draws with the lifetime license as a nonresident.

I hunt on land that I own and my father owns. All 6 of my kids have their lifetime license so the only thing I have bought the last 4 years or so is a fishing license.

I don't buy the sportsman's, it just doesn't make financial sense for me since I just catfish my local lake and deer hunt. I also limit myself to just a bow and muzzleloader for the weapons so I only purchase the two weapons licenses.

With that said I compared what it will cost me for the new licenses, especially with only having to buy the deer license and not the individual weapons license, and my overall cost only goes up about 4 dollars depending on the added online fees and how/when I purchase them. If I turkey or bear hunted then it would be a difference.

While I never like to have to pay more, it doesn't surprise me at all. As others have mentioned, the cost of everything has gone up, and that cost has to get passed on to the final end user in one form or another.

It's no different at the grocery store, where we all feel the pain or at the auto parts store, or anywhere, the cost of doing business will always get passed down to the final end user. In this case, that is us.

After the last increased, I decided to go ahead and buy my lifetime. I wish I could have done it before the increase, but couldn't spare the money at that time. Glad I did it, don't have to worry about it anymore.
