Found a 150 acre lease in west TN, the land owner wants me to get a $500K insurance policy. Anybody else have to purchase this? If so, who writes these policies and about how much should I expect to pay as a premium?

I got a $1 million liability policy through QDMA for my 700 acre lease in Madison County. Price is $257/year. When I shopped around policies they were all in that ballpark.

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change.
I had farm bureau add a 1mil liability umbrella policy to my homeowners policy. It was less that $200 for the year. Makes landowners feel a little more comfortable with you hunting their land for sure.

My lease is in Hardin County and our property owner handles the insurance, shows it separately on the lease renewal every year and has the policy cover sent to me. We have $1M coverage at $0.30 per acre thru Assured Partners of SC, LLC. I believe it has gone down a few cents per acre over the years and we've never had a claim.

Tennessee state law says a farm/land owner can't be sued if someone he lets hunt get hurt while hunting (in the verbage it also list hiking fishing picking berries, etc....).

Of course it says if injuries were due to negligence it doesn't apply. And the fact is, you can sue anybody for anything and who knows what a judge and jury will do.

I've got the TCA Code at home and can list it later if anyone wants to read it.

I'm assuming that law hasn't been changed in the last few years.

I can see a property owner purchasing liability insurance to cover him and his property and pass the expense to the hunter, but if the hunter buys the insurance is it still in effect only for a certain property/owner or would that cover any property he might hunt?

If i leased land to someone i would require they have liability insurance. If i just let someone hunt i wouldn't worry about. They way i understand it is if money is paid you need to have it. Its all confusing bs anyway.
