LHR Redemption or nitride CVA?

Anybody got a LHR Redemption how do you like it? I'm down to this or a nitride CVA. What muzzloader would you buy new today if you where not going smokeless?

For me it was 2 SS CVA Optimas.

Is the nitride that important for you? I personally would just prefer SS.

Not only is it 100% made in America but built right here in tennessee. Every one I have had or seen shot works great and is very accurate, they even guarantee it. They are high quality gun. Barrels are coated. Can get them in several different ignition types. Feels more like a rifle than any other I have owned. Check em out they make a model comparable in cost to others but IMO you want get a better gun for the money.

I had a Knight and I killed a pile of deer with it but it was a PAIN disassemble and clean. I now have 2 CVA Optima V2's with SS barrels. They are as easy to clean as a ML gets. You can screw the breech plug out with your fingers to clean it and the barrel.

I too will be purchasing a new ML this season and I believe I will be trying a LHR. I have been a big fan of the accura in the past. However, the melonite coating, inside and out, will greatly reduce corrosion and aid in really smooth loading. No more stuck breech plugs as the design on the LHR the threads are on the outside. And the wonderful accuracy claims from them have me really intrigued. They are built to some of the tightest specs on the market and the trigger is really nice, striker fire type system if I remember correctly.

Go Smokeless....you wont be sorry. Get you a CVA Apex and have it converted all total about $650.....Or H&R conversion even cheaper....Thank me later.

I got news for you, the LHR has big problems with the BP freezing up with T7 & pyrodex. Only Blackhorn209 works freely with the LHR breech plug design.

Really? haven't seen or heard of this as of yet. So there is more blow back w/ T7 & Pyro? And is this when the plug for BH is used or the standard plug?

And how is it freezing up when the plug it self does not even thread in?

the cap is what freezes up, its not as good as a seal as they had originally thought it was. Its just like a screw on cap you'd use for a pipe. Theres nothing there to prevent the gasses and soot from getting into those threads.

Umm. I got ya so the plug's seals don't seem to be doing as designed? Is this in current models also?

I couldnt tell you. All I know is that LHR admitted they've experienced problems with the cap getting stuck and needed the tool for removal when using pyrodex and triple 7.
