I just started hunting with a marlin 336 3030. My plans are to use either Remington or Winchester SoftPoint 150 grain went deer hunting. What is your all's experience with the lever evolution versus the Remington in Winchester? What the lever evolution have better ballistics versus the other two on deer or would it be better just to stick with the Remington or Winchester?
 
I use a Marlin 336 in .35 caliber as my primary woods gun. Have been shooting Remington Core-lokt 200g shells forever out of it and it shoots great.
 
I hunt with a marlin 1895 45/70 using 325 gr in Hornady leverevolution and I love it and my gun loves it. Great blood trail and great grouping
 
Both my kids harvest deer every season with Marlin 336 rifles firing 30-30 win 160 grain FTX LEVERevolution ammunition. This ammo groups well and is easy to use. Their shots are usually 125 yards or less. My daughter did drop an 8 point buck standing a 167 yards. A few years ago, I shot a doe around 310 yards away. I found a few spots of blood, but no real blood trail. I was fortunate to find the deer around 100 yards from where I shot her. The round hit the front shoulder, then lodged in the opposite side. No complaints on this ammunition. Maybe keep the shots within 200 yards would give pass through results?
 
I have a 336 in .35 Remington and shoot the Winchester 200 grain ammo. I tried the leverolution but got better groups with the Winchester ammo. But every gun is different.
 
I shoot a .35 Rem.336, I used the 200 grain lever evolution for a couple of years. Shot several deer with them with mixed results. Dropped some in their tracks, had to look for a few. They didn't seem to make a very good blood trail. Ive shot everything though that gun. Winchester, Remington, I'm Shooting 200 grain federal (blue box) now. The only thing that I can say is I don't particularly like hornaday ammunition, I think it's too hot, especially for a brush gun. I won't shoot them in my gun anymore.
 
I've used the 325 gr, 45-70 version in my Henry lever action. They shot really well in the Henry. I don't know about the 30-30 version but the 45-70 load is pretty stout in comparison to other 45-70 loads. Through the chronograph, they were about 200 fps faster than the 300 gr loads from Winchester and Federal on top of being a touch over 8% heavier in bullet weight. They worked well on deer but it was a round I didn't want to shoot a bunch of off the bench at the range.

Do you like the federals? Good blood trails etc. I was looking at trying them in my .35 but the Winchester's worked pretty well for me. I would not be against trying them.
 
I've tried both the 160 grain Winchester and the LeverEvolution in my 336 30-30, both were good but I think the LE gives a little more range.
 
I use the federal 170 sp in my 336 3030. At 100 it shoots a inch group and good blood trails. Never tried the LE as I never seen a reason to change.

Just started the federal this year. They pattern well. The federal seems to be hotter than the Remington , but not as hot as hornaday. I've had a lot of luck with winchester, Remington over the years as well. My gun is a JM stamped 1974 model. I've been carrying it for 36 years. I guess I'd go with works best for you. The only reason I have ever tried any brand over another was because of availability. .35 Remington can be a hard gun to feed. I generally buy 2 or 3 boxes every time I find it.

Remington Core-Lokt's, Winchester Power points and Federal ammo have been killing deer at woods ranges for years in the 30-30. The Leverevolution ammo from Hornady is good stuff if your rifle likes it and it will stretch the range out as well. I've used it in a 30-30 T/C Contender pistol and it was extremely accurate in my gun.
Hunt with what your gun likes and have a sharp knife as they all will work.
