Not sure what they changed, but sincerely wished they would have fixed the variable eye relief on their VX2/3 line of scopes.

What is it about the eye relief you don't like? I'm pretty sure I know what you are referring to but like to be clear we are on the same plane.

Eye relief changes drastically with magnification. On the two VX3's I have, the change is approximately 5/8". They are a good scope for the money, but this one "feature" really bugs me. For others, it's not much of a problem.

The VX6 is better but still not as constant as my Swarovski's are.

That's an exaggeration, considering Swarovski sells scopes for less than $1000. Despite that, scopes in the same class as Leupold don't have as much variability in them.
 
I talked to one of the Leupold guys about this at SHOT last week and looked through a few. I wish I could remember the specifics as to what they changed, but I do recall an upgrade to the lens coating.

And the free beer. :)
 
The lower price point on the 3i models are a plus. I just wonder how they were able to cut the cost so much. I know they said its because they fine tuned their assembly line but it just seems like they aren't doing something the used to on the vx-3 line.
 
I happened to read some reviews on another site, some say they can't tell a difference in the glass improvement but the power selector is smoother. I'm sure Leupold had to lower price to stay competitive.

Leupold is losing my interest by not adding "fast focus" features to many of their scopes. One of the reasons I started purchasing Zeiss Conquests.
