Leupold rifleman?

Are these scopes good? The low price makes me worry a little but I know Leupold makes high quality products.

It will go one a 7mm Rem mag model 700 SPS shooting anywhere up to 400 yards deer hunting and maybe some target shooting out to 800 yards.

I'd save up a little more money and get something a little better for what you're wanting to do.But that's just me.

Have one on my Omega Muzzleloader. No complaints but eye relief seems a little shallow. Probably would not buy another one.

I'll probably just save up for the Leupold VX-3.

Even a VX II is not a huge amount more money but quite a bit better scope.

shooting at any distance over 350-400 yards will require some very repeatable adjustments,,I used to shoot to 500 with the fat part of my reticle as a reference point,,but to make precision shots at anything over 400 you need some good turrets with very precise adjustment system,

After looking into it a bit I'm going to probably go with the VX-3 CDS. The custom turrets on it seem convenient. My gun has a cheap scope that came with it. I'll use it for now so I can learn exactly what bullet I will want to use. Then I'll be able to pick the exact turrets I want for the Leupold.

how old are you?
if you are over 45 consider the fact that your eyesight will be changing
i could not adjust my leopold enough for me to see clearly through it after my eyes started changing
what i am suggesting is get a scope with the fast focus

I'm 16. I wear contacts but they have never had any effect on my shooting.

Fast Focus on a scope is nice if one has to change the focus for another shooter to use the same set-up but they can get moved out of focus at the wrong time. The old styles won't. JMO

1-good shot - Sounds like you got Cataracts if so darn hard to get a scope focused clearly.

Master Chief- If you decide to upgrade your scope while waiting or reserching the higher end ones. I would suggest the Redfield over the Rifleman while close to the same glass the Redfield is a bit better and has better built adjustments. What ever you decide Good Luck and be patient get what you like and want everyones opinion be danged.

i never noticed that.

Get your rifle out and set it at its lowest power and then get your ideal cheek weld to your stock. Then change the power to max and do not adjust your cheek weld to the stock. You will notice a difference in the eye relief. It will get shorter.

Do a Google search. It's all over the net. This is why Leupold says to site in their scopes at high power and not low power.

that is why I got rid of the LR/T 8.5-25,,on 8.5 it had 5 inches of eye relief on 25 it was like 3.75 inches,,every Leupold I have does this,,you have to mount then in the middle of its power adjustment or you will have problems.

with some long actions you have to use extension mounts or you wont be able to mount the scope where you can see through it through out the mag range.

I thought this was common knowledge on Leupold scopes,,it can be over come with proper mounts and bases though,

I thought this as well, but most people that own Leupold scopes do not know that the eye relief changes as you increase the power. They compensate by adjusting their cheek weld. That's one of many reasons I don't use Leupold scopes anymore. Zeiss scopes have a constant eye relief no matter what power the scope is set.

I still use them but havent bought one in a while,,if you get the scope mounted in the middle of its adjustment where you normally put your head it wont move but maybe 1/2 inch each way,,if you mount it at either end of its range the eye relief can move an inch and a half on some models,,

I have a couple Conquests also and they are constant 4 inches,,I am looking hard at the Sightron for my Next LR rig,,
