Food Plots letting my grains mature

This is my first time letting rye and wheat mature, I usually have mowed by now. I'm liking it, squirrels, turkeys, deer, and my chickens agree! You think some will reseed themselves?

Maybe ic it's big enough, but more than likely the critters will have it all mopped up by midsummer. That's why plant in the first place though.

If you planted a big enough area to where the critters can't eat it all, there will likely be at least a little reseeding opportunity.

I'm leaving 14 acres of wheat standing and will drill beans directly into it once it dries down real good. Hopefully there's enough grain remaining to shoot some doves and there's a decent stand of beans.

How will you find birds in the standing beans?

The way the field is shaped there are several coves that I plan to mow entirely a few weeks before the season opens...clipped as close to the ground as possible. Fortunately each cove is pretty good sized so we'll limit our shots to these mowed areas.

That sounds like a plan . I would like mine to last till Sept but probably wont. I only have about 3 acres wheat
