Amazing that it was intact with such a fine tip.
That was the first time that particular piece of ground had ever been plowed.
Trust me, I was freaking out.

I shared the pic with a Friend of mine and he seems too think the point isn't a Lerma…
He thinks it's closer too a Cobbs Triangle.
He's basing his opinion on the shape of the base.
He says a Lerma has more of a tapered base..
I don't have a clue, but thought I'd pass the info along..for what it's worth..Happy New Year too all!

Im sure he knows more than I do.
Im going from what Jerry Dickey and another gentleman (very respected for knowledge) said at the artifact show.
I could be wrong but I believe the professor from Memphis said the same.
The biggest difference I see between mine and Cobbs is that steep bevel.
Or we can just call them "pig stickers"

I agree with you on that as well, he did mention he thought it was a preform…
I'm not sure exactly what that means? Unfinished maybe?

Im thinking its not a preform due to the smaller edge flaking work not commonly seen on preforms.

He also mentioned without seeing it in person, it's really hard too tell just from a couple of photos..

And for the record, all the well-knowledgeable people that looked at these agree they are somewhat different, but did agree that Lerma was the closest "known type" to classify them to.

He has talent thats for sure. I love the oblique flaking? on those two bottom far right pieces.
And so many fine tips and edge work, really nice.

He lives in Virginia, he said the larger one in the pic above came from the rootball of a blown down tree..
I ask about making points once ..
He told me…. All you have to do is chip off everything that doesn't look like an arrowhead.
