Don't think so. I have some as a border in my yard and they have limbs from the ground up so the deer really can't get to the trunk easily to rub it.
 
Ive seen these cypress used as visual barriers (planted as a visual wall) on large clubs, so I suspect deer won't eat them much.
 
They actually grow fairly fast too. I bought some that were about 4 ft tall 4 years ago and now they are about 10 ft tall. I have fertilized them but the drought also took a toll.

I would look into Green Giant Thuja trees. More hardy than leland cypress and cheaper. I have been looking into them, I plan to buy some as privacy barrier.
