Leftover Permits

Picked up a leftover Catoosa 10-25 to 10-27 MZ Genesis.
Got drawn for Catoosa Bicolor 11-15 to 11-17 MZ hunt instead of my #1 choice at Oak ridge.
Looks like I better get busy covering some ground at Catoosa.

Tried Genesis side during the early bow season 5 to 6 years ago without seeing a deer.
Going to see if I've learned anything since then.

That is the hunt I was shooting for. But server overload I guess is why it took nearly 45 minutes for options to show up.

Grabbed a Cheatham rifle. It only allowed me to get one leftover. Not sure if that's how it is for everyone or because I drew two other quotas in the draw.

I was able to get a leftover mz hunt 11/15-11/17 when bought license and the rest of the permits disappeared. Went today to do some early scouting, very thick and very hot to say the least!

Went bask to that area from 5 to 6 years ago to find it completely cut over.
I think what I've learned is the almighty dollar is more important than maintaining habitat.

Clear cuts are some of the best habitat available. The lack of timber cutting on LBL and the Cherokee NF have been negative issues for those WMAs. Fortunately, they have been able to continue timber cuts on Catoosa.
