Is basecamp and the likes the norm? Or are there better resources for leasing in and out of state?

I assume you mean a place to overnight camp while you are hunting? I would say yes. Most leases will have a designated area to camp

I think basecamp is a website that posts leases but I'm not 100% sure.
Basecamp seems to be the most "established" from what I've seen. HLRBO is another option but I haven't used it much so I'm not sure of the quality/viability.
If you're looking for out of state, a shorter term lease may be more cost effective. I was looking at Mule Deer and Elk options and came across LandTrust. LandTrust had some really good offerings for what I was looking for.
Merk Farms Hunting is another one for leases and they're more "Local"
