Anyone bow hunt LBL yet this year? Hope to go a day this week if I get a chance.

Hunting has been very slow so far. Make sure to read the new rules for hunting LBL this season. Limits and season dates have changed.

Hunters are also encouraged to fill out Hunter Check Out Cards after each hunt. This helps staff determine how many deer hunters are, or are not seeing. This information helps staff determine future hunting season dates, and limits.

I have no problem fillings this card out, but where do i get the the card and where does it state one is REQUIRED to complete it? That card seems to be a harvest record, but lbl said you were required to fill one out after EACH hunt?

The cards are found on LBL's website. It says they want ALL hunters to fill one out EVERY time they bow hunt whether they harvest a deer or not. You can print one off on the website.

The cards are to help staff better understand how many deer hunters are seeing.
Again, is this REQUIRED or just ASKED????

I just spoke with Gary at the LBL Visitor's Center and he told me it was optional, but highly encouraged so as to provide the biologists with your observation data.

Thank You Sir, LBL stated that it was REQUIRED and i didn't think that was the case?

The Hunter Check Out Cards are NOT mandatory. However, it's highly recommended that all hunters fill them out. This information really helps staff determine what types, and how many deer hunters are or are not seeing. This information can help determine future hunting seasons, and limits.

If it's not required I really don't see the point. Random cards filled out equates to random management.
Exactly, and with people being in such a crunch for time as we all are these days, not many will take the time to fill them out after every hunt. If an agency really wants this information, I'd suggest making an online fillable PDF form for hunters to fill out when it is convenient for them.

Only one early morning hunt so far this season early last week. Was busted by a group of does walking into my spot. They stayed, down wind of me, blowing and stomping till I had to move to another spot. Didn't see anything for the next two hours then went home. There was plenty of sign and acorns were starting to drop but not good. Hoping to go up there next mid week if I can. Just been one of those years so far, just can't make time to get up there.

TN side of LBL. ;)

Area 12, only area I hunt/have hunted in the last 10 years. I tend to hunt one area just like I pretty much hunt one area on the Fort unless it isn't open or I can't get in it. I am getting to old and beat up to put in scouting time in new areas. Both driving in and out of LBL that day I seen other deer so it was not dead. Deer are there.

I'm the same way. Use to hunt the fort a lot until it got ridiculous to get in an area. Went once just to drive around an area that was full but only have a couple vehicles parked around it!? Haven't hunted it since. Anyway. I have hunted areas 13 and 15 at lbl and can't think of a trip that I didn't see deer and most trips had chances at killing but haven't shot yet, still looking for a big buck

Does anyone know what fields have been planted? It'd be nice if they still put out the habitat maps even though they weren't very accurate the last couple years they had them.

My dad rode thru Labor Day weekend and said several bean fields
