Most people who hunt LBL hunt at or near a crop field, or other type of field, or they hunt within half a mile of a road. However, some people do walk in several miles to hunt, or they walk in several miles and back-country camp and hunt for a few days several miles from the nearest road.
After studying the map of LBL, I cannot find any place "several miles" from a legal road. The best I can come up with it about 1.5 miles from a road and that is a rare place.
Some of my very best places are within sight of a road. I usually park two or three hundred yards away from them and walk down the road to access the area. I certainly do not use a marker at these places -bright eye, beer can, flagging tape, etc- to alert anyone else where I am. :tu:
Many people do walk in several miles. I have done so myself. I have also hiked most of the North/South Trail and there are spots along the trail where it's possible to walk several miles in between roads. And your correct sometimes good places can be close to roads.
