Pretty sure the U.S. Department of Agriculture plays the primary role in funding and conducting LBL's pig eradication efforts. LBL is a federal property with over half of it being in the State of Kentucky.

I believe there's been a decline in the turkey population due to the hogs. I wonder how long it takes it to rebound.

I believe declines in the turkey population have been more due to many factors, but yes, feral pigs are one of them. For over 200 yrs there have been feral pigs in the East TN mountains, yet a decent turkey population most decades?

It may be that in some areas with little agricultural crops (like parts of Middle TN & LBL) the number one issue adversely effecting turkey populations is the high raptor population.

I'm not much an expert on turkeys either, Al! :)
May be in part just coincidence, and could be mostly the case in some particular areas that pigs were the #1 problem for the turkeys.

you would be correct sir, where I live when the wild hog and bear population went through the roof, turkey and deer population have declined extremely. all it takes is a bad yr of ehd or high harvest rates and the prey can't out produce the predator's

Pigs eat everything a turkey will plus they'll wreck a nest. Coincidence or not, pigs do turkeys no favors.
