My dad talked me into going this morning so he didn't have to park by his spot and I could just drop him off (he would have a really long walk otherwise). I went up to my spot, but didn't plan to walk in until daylight so I could still hunt the trail. My truck seat and that leftover warmth from the heater were just too comfortable. Next thing I know it's a little after 8:00 and a guy I know is driving down the trail. He recognised my truck and was gonna get out and play a prank on me by leaving a note. He was shocked when I climbed out lol! We talked for a good bit and I finally decided to go down and get my deer stand. I also sent my dad a text to see if he had seen any yet. I got to looking at the trail and seen were several deer had been crossing. About that time I had just told my dad I hadn't seen anything yet (he didn't know about my nap lol) I heard some leaves rustle in the thicket and sure enough a big doe walked out. She was standing not even 5 yards from where I killed my coyote last week. That makes the third animal I have killed easing that trail. A big 3.5 6 point, a doe, and a coyote. The other doe I killed this year was also a still hunt kill. Also missed one with a bow still hunting and had a misfortunate encounter with a 145++ ten pointer while still hunting from coming out of my stand earlier this year. Might just sell my deer stand! Lol not really, but I have done pretty good with the still hunting this year.
I can't get my photobucket to work, but she was a pretty big one.
Glad I started 2014 off right!
