Its sure gonna be fun toting a gun with a 32" barrel through the mountains but I nabbed the last H&R Buffalo Gun benton shooters had in .45-70 Gov. I had to sell my marlin guide gun in .45-70 awhile back and I sure do miss havin a big bore for huntin hogs and since this H&R is a single shot and making that one shot count, Im gonna load as heavy as possible and obviously just as accurate. Im thinkin 425-520gr cast lead if I can get ahold of somethin that heavy without blowing up the gun.

I want one of those, as i hunt in Mississippi and they are a legal "primitive weapon" during muzzleload season. Ha Ha. Gotta love Mississippi for that.....

I`m gonna load the Sierra 300 grain HP. Barnes makse a Flat Point in 250 grain also that would be oh so nice. This 250 grainer and AA1680 will give 2800 fps. Can you say WHOMP!!!

That may just be the only money of mine Barnes EVER gets!!!

I read an ad in the paper here today where a fellow was selling an Italian reproduction .45/70 Cal Sharps Rifle with 50 rnds of ammo.... reloader set & components for $750.....

I don't know if it's a deal or not...... not meaning to hi-jack your thread but since you said .45-70 it caught my eye.

I've got two or three boxes of ammo to fit that rifle if you'll let me know next time you're coming up to Athens. I think they're 300 gr. hollowpoints in a couple of brands.

That is a great cal but in Miss. I use a 35 Wheelen during Mz season. Better stats that the 45-70. Very deadly out to 250 yrds.
