Laurel Hill WMA

[Antler Daddy]

First time back for ML in about 7-8 years. It is hot, but good to be back in the woods with the smokeless savage.

Forgot sling, bug spray, need to put some contact cement on worn boots, spray with water and repellant and permethrin.

Found my hunting knife in vest pocket. Forgot bleat, grunt and some antlers to tickle.

I think I left all my SD cards for cameras back at home. I had planned to put out 3 tomorrow on farm.

About 4-5 plastic bins and insulated cooler bags full of stuff! Way too many orange vests where we forgot and had to buy one.

I do know where guns and ammo are but most of my stuff had not been touched since mid- December. Guns get some spot rust some years. A man can get busy with work and life and the season is upon him with the same loaded muzzleloader from Dec.

I think I found a couple of hog rooting sites...not sure what else it could be. Wish the hogs would stay away!

I starting thinking about this some more...not aware of hogs on Laurel Hill and it was definitely not wet

I am thinking that it was armadillos now maybe.

I found some holes dug in a couple of places at Catoosa this weekend. It could have been hogs rooting up a hole...for what I don't know. Hole was over a foot deep and 3-4 feet across. It looked more like a bear had dug to get to underground bees or something. I have seen that in Greene County tn and know it was bears.

Know you weren't asking me. But I seen 6 different bucks and 7 doe's for the 3 day hunt. Hunting till around noon and then going back out around 2:30. All the bucks but 1 were youngsters and I did not see any pestering of any of the different groups of doe's I saw. Honestly rubs and scrapes seem to just be getting going. Maybe this next hunt it'll bust wide open I hope. If I knew you were out there we should have met up. Or any of you on TN Deer I would have been glad to meet. Maybe next time
