Well, my dad knocked off the number one buck on our hit list here in east Tennessee. This buck came out 45 minutes before dark to feed on daikon radishes in one of our hunting plots. This hunting plot has been strategically placed and provides deer a secure location to feed. A lot of time and hard work went into creating this specific hunting spot!

This is a 5-year-old buck with a live weight of 200 lbs (not bad for a mid-December buck!). I rough-scored him at 146. This is the second 5-year-old buck that scored over 140 that we've taken the past 3 years!

What a great deer! Congrats to your Dad! You have had one heck of a great season. Congrats on all your hard work paying off, very rewarding.
 
Congratulations! Obviously you work hard at it and are a well above average deer hunter. I'm curious to know how much land you have control over to be able to see bucks like this in east TN? What about the surrounding land? Large tracts or lots of small tracts with many owners? Amazing how you keep dragging monster bucks out of the woods!

That is a pretty good example of how it takes age to make up for mediocre soil. A lot of places can grow bucks like that at 3.5 to 4.5 years old. Most of us in TN have to let them get to 4.5 or 5.5 to get some in the 140" class, and then most will only make to the 130" class at 5.5.
