Late Rut??

I was walking around on my in-law property in East Kentucky, I found some fresh scrape's. Could they be having a late Rut/breeding in February? I know it possible but I wouldn't figured this far north, warmer weather I guess. If so would the baby be born around September?
 
I think I have read they get a spurt of hormones when the horns are about to come off and cause a brief event
 
There is a minimum of breeding that still goes on now but most scraping is done because of the surge in testosterone when old antlers drop and the new begin growth.
