I hunted this wma yesterday and the birds just kept drifting after fly down and zipped quiet. 5 miles and couldn't get a gobble. I came back this morning and went to cut off a bird and bumped into a LB as I was coming out of the creek. We scared each other, he never made a peep on or off roost. He flew the opposite so I went to loop and cut him off when he gobbled. No luck but ended up calling in 5 jakes. 10am I made the loop back to make sure he wasn't there again and notta. On my way back to the truck I had one more point to try but he hammered before I even hit the first call. I'm at the top of the ridge and he's down in the bottom. I went back n forth with him for almost an hour. I'd call wait about 10 min call again. I could see him she just wouldn't come in range. I finally slid down the ridge behind trees and closed distance. A bird off private chimed in but I didn't care about him at the time cuz they never come off the private field. About 10 mins later he'd done closed distance. I switch from ceramic to slate and he shot out the brush. I had one opening that I was waiting for the other bird to come to but the 2nd bird came in hot right to it and that's all she wrote for my season. 28Lbs, beard all little over 10" and 1 3/16 spur. The other was broke off some. Pic shows 27lbs with hand scale but house scale showed 28
