Last minute decision after getting off work. Headed to a WMA that I have never bowhunted. Got in about 5 pm. Set up at a creek crossing with private land on the other side. About sunset, here comes a doe into the creek bed. She crossed almost all the way and started sniffing in front of her and then started looking upstream and stomped. I don't know what spooked her, but the wind was blowing the other way the whole time so it wasn't me. She trotted back across the creek and went off back to private land. Thing is, she was broadside at about 15 yards in the creek and I could have shot her, but I knew she would almost certainly run straight back to private land if I did.

Now with 3 minutes of shooting light left, I hear deer just across the creek.

Made it down the tree and when the climber clanked as I was removing it, they started blowing from across the creek. Might go back there in a few days.

I love those last minute/scout, find a spot, climb and hunt. Public land may have had another hunter downstream that had the same idea as you but got both of you busted.

possibly, but the deer was looking upstream which was cross wind so it may have seen something. It was sniffing toward the trail in front of it too, and I hadn't walked there and the wind was blowing away anyway. No knows, at least I got a good spot to go back to.

I don't get to hunt as much due to work but have really enjoyed your post and videos. thanks and good luck on new spot.
