A friend of mine has access to his neighbor's property where there's what I would call quite a shelter located. It's at the top of a ridge, there's a series of bluffs and one cave that make a U shape. There's even a spring coming from under one of the outcrops.
It's the most ideal area I've ran across for a campsite- I'm thinking they used it quite often.
He and I dug the area for half a day last year and found quite a few broken points, a lot of chips, and a nutting stone with the round rock that fit it perfectly.
He told me about a time a few years ago when he'd been digging around over there and located a bone. He inquired with a friend of his, and it was confirmed to be a human femur. I had a photo of it, not sure if i still do or not. Anyways, they went back together the next morning, and someone/something had been in there during the night and removed the bone.
They didn't bother contacting the authorities after that, since it was gone when they returned.
I can go back and check this spot, per permission from the property owner. He's getting up there in years, has to be in his mid-80's. He's had quite a few people sneaking in and digging it without permission over the years. You can tell it's been excavated with shovels quite a few times, as there's dips and high points all around.
There's no telling what kinda things have been found over there, sure would like to see those. I think illl get in touch with him and see if he's got any more information. Just wanted to share this interesting spot and see what everyone thought. I made a small sifter and dug down 3/4 ft in the area right in front of the largest outcropping.
I wonder what the changes are of additional artifacts being left behind by those who already visited the site.
I'll see if I can locate a few of those pictures.
