Well I finally broke down and did it. I bought a brick of the Lapua Midas + 22 Long Rifles cartridges. Ouch!!! They shot better than anything else in both of my rifles so I laid back a few. I'm going to have to ration these things though. They hurt the pocketbook badly.....definitely not plinking or practice ammo...at least not on my budget.
 
Each Wednesday at MSSA there is a BR50 match. I hope I am correct on the BR50 part. They shoot at circles with a tiny dot in the center which is the tiebreaker. You should see the hardware these guys bring out, it is amazing. There are March scopes on some, and Nightforce on others, Anshutz actions McMillan stocks, Lordy mercy, makes my stuff look like tinker toys.
 
A lot of match shooters use it. I can't afford it but got tired of the occasional fliers I get with other ammo. I've been shooting down in Georgia. They use the BR50 target with the .10 inch target 10 ring at 50 yards. If you don't cut the ring with most shots you can forget about even being in the running. They're not a recognized shoot and rifles are factory fodder without tuners but they're all I can handle right now. A shoot is coming up tomorrow but they're calling for gusting 15 mile per hour winds all day. I'll be happy if I can get into the top half. I'm shooting a Kimber SVT and a Cooper LVT right now and both seem about the same accuracy level. That is to say they're both better than I am. Most shots I can cut that 10 ring but not all the time and that doesn't get it. The winds should be interesting and might level the playing field.
 
I might would save the pricey stuff for a better day, but hey winning is everything. Good luck with your shoot.

I have been invited to shoot with these guys, but a Kimber Varminter is all I got. Now that I think about it I have not shot that little rifle in 4 or 5 years.

I finally did manage to equal the target that came in the box, it shot a 5 shot .200" @ 50 yds
 
Daddy`s Kimber 17M2 is wildly accurate but the smaller bullet would hurt in hitting a .10 dot,,

are you sorting the ammo by rim thickness,,could be the fliers

I've been sorting by rim thickness but not by weight. I've always used a balance beam scale for weighing charges and it doesn't lend itself to sorting by weight. I need to get one of the digitals just for sorting purposes.

Tim, I beat my Kimber test target with a couple of groups the first day out with it but I haven't equalled the Cooper target yet. Close but no ceegar.

Here's my little handy dandy rimfire sorter I modified from a $25 thickness gauge from Harbor Freight.

I've yet to try the 10X. Sounds like you've had good luck with it. I've not seen any in local shops and haven't tried to order any. I did try a couple of the Remington Eley type but they didn't do so well. They're about half the price of the Tenex though. My tightest group so far came with the Wolf Target Match. 5 shot group of .09"@50. Blind hogs do find acorns occasionally.
