The land owner would like me to take and teach their 9 yr old how to hunt safely etc.
His daddy does not have a license, came over from Mexico when he was 12.
He is married to my cousin. They own the land I hunt.

The way I read the requirements, he would be exempt from hunters Ed. requirements, exempt from requiring a license- BUT still needs a TWRA# with the landowner exemption form.

I want to insure we/ he is legal. I would be the one taking him- and meet the license requirement for underage hunters.

Please advise if I am missing something- or reading the regulations incorrectly.
Thanks for your time!

He actually doesn't need the Hunter Education certification until he turns 10. You are correct that on his father's land, he is exempt from that requirement.

He does not need a hunting license until he turns 13. Again, on his father's land, he is exempt.

To take antlerless deer during the gun hunt (G/M/A), all ages need the Type 94 permit. He is also exempt from the permit on his father's land.

At age 9, he is required to have an adult over the age of 21 who can take immediate control of the hunting weapon at all times.

Good luck on your hunt!
