Thinking about heading up to KY lake this weekend for the first time. I was told the lake is up high and lots of flooded timber and grass to fish.I hear thats when the fishing is at its best there? Any help from the veterans would be much appreciated... I am leaving from Nashville area and was wondering what was the best boat ramp to go to from here?

What are you wanting to fish for? I assume bass bassed on your talk of grass and flooded timber.

Most of the good bass fishing seems to be North of the Duck River on up towards Paris. New Johnsonville/Birdsong area has been pretty hot the last couple of years.

New Johnsonville is probably the easist to get to if you come up 70. If you cross the interstate Birdsong Marina or Camden Landing are also good ramps.

I've heard that further south (Perryville, Saltillo, etc) hasn't been as good for bass the last few years.

Stay clear of the Paris Landing area, it's totally dead around here!

Don't bother none with no crawfish colored crankbaits neither, that's a bunch of huey too.

We threw stuff for nearly 4 hrs the other day, and didn't catch but maybe 30 or 40 in all that time......pitiful I tell you!
