Just curious on others exp's. I shoot 2 pellets of white hots with a 250 grain Hornady-SST. Never had one drop in their tracks after the shot. Always run off 40 yards or so... Shot placement is usually good. I've just come to accept this as the norm, is this typical for everyone?
 
Its all in shotplacement. good for you maybe heart lung shot in which case they will run. good for me is high shoulder which anchores them 99 percent. of the time where they are standing.
 
I have had more drt shooting power belts with a healthy dose of pyro or 777. heart/lungs and even if they run its not over 30y .had bucks run 100y with heart/lungs jellied from 300wm 150g all deer are different

I shot a deer in the neck at about 30-40 yds with a 50 cal muzzleloader a couple years ago. He dropped in his tracks and I got up packed up all my junk and started over to him and he got up and ran about 50 yds and fell over. He done that about 4 times thru a pine thicket before I finally got the chance to finish him off. I thought I might have just clipped him but he was hit almost thru the center of the neck. That was the first and only deer I have ever seen run from a neck shot. So no shot is 100% DRT except a brain shot.
 
I shot one years ago that dropped in his tracks. Oldest largest body buck I've ever shot. I was packing up and getting ready to climb down the tree when he let out a groan and got up and walked away. Was a good shoulder shot. So as much as I like shoulder shots and it does drop them, R E L O A D!!!! immediately. Always be ready for a follow up shot. I learned a valuable lesson that day.

yep. i've only had two run after being shot with a mz. it knocked them flat but then they jumped up and ran just a few yards before dropping again.
