Hunted Sunday, yesterday and this morning.

Saw 64 or 65 deer Sunday. 5 bucks that were from 120 to upper 130's. Had 3 of them within 20 yards for a long time. Saw a total of 14 bucks. Saw a huge buck at 300 yards or so Sunday evening. No shot with a muzzleloader. Awesome day, they were chasing hard, sign everywhere.

Bowhunted yesterday and this morning, Saw just over 40 deer yesterday. 1 buck that was maybe 125" and several small ones.

Saw the huge buck this morning right at the break of day. He was running and grunting like mad. He got within 20 yards a couple times. Only got him to stop once and was not long enough to get a shot.

If could get them to load I would post some videos. Great couple days hunting. Headed back this weekend.

Guess I should have bought my ML tag....I am looking forward to Rifle....I have seen some daylight movement on my drive to Hopkinsville HS in the a.m.

If you're referring to hunting Ky there isn't a ml tag. The deer permit does it all for Ky. Nothing like TN's system.

Saw a lot of activity last weekend myself in Ky. .Bunches of does and small bucks. Maybe 1 120 in buck. But absolutely no rutting activity.

Didn't see squat Saturday morning but found lots of scrapes and rubs. Saturday evening seen 11 does and 1 small 8 point. He was bumping the does and licking every branch along the fence line. Dad seen 16 deer total that afternoon also with 2 being 120ish 8 pts, a few smaller bucks and the rest does. Sunday morning seen 3 does, dad seen 6 does, lil brother seen 2 small bucks and 6 does. Best mz opener for deer sightings for me was 2014. Seen 118 deer in the 2 days I hunted.

So what does it cost for an out of state hunting license?

Nonresident hunting license - $140
Nonresident deer permit(four deer) - $120

Can't beat those kinds of days in the trees! Maybe you'll catch up with the big boy this weekend.

As with any state. Some counties are better than others and some parts of counties are better than others. Ive got one 90 acre farm where you can see 25 to as many as 50 deer a day. 8 miles away on a 250 acre farm your lucky to see 10 on a good day but when you see one you had better be ready. Good luck to all.

HH - sounds like a lot of fun and excitement, hope you catch up with the big boy. What part of KY were you hunting? SE, SW, Central, etc?

Western KY, been hunting it for several years. Every year has been awesome, except last year. Last year I did not even see a buck I would have shot in Tennessee. No rut activity and was just terrible. 2 years ago, from daylight of opening day to about 9 am the next morning, between the land I hunt and neighboring farm, there were 6 bucks killed that measured from 136" to 169" and the wood block is about 200 acres. The area is for sure infested with deer. There have been many, many days I have seen well over 50 deer a day.

I am just a terrible hunter in that I have had trouble waiting for a better buck. I am for sure waiting for a better one now. I don't even care if I kill a buck until I kill one the size I want to. My goal is a minimum of 150".

No one hunts muzzleloader much and bow season is slow.

Gun season is a completely different deal, it is like you are at the grand national skeet shooting championships except with high power rfiles. The first 2 mornings and evenings, it is rare to go more than a minute or 2 without hearing a shot or several shots.

I hunted KY most of the weekend too. Saw about 60 deer and 10 different bucks... best was a 140-145 8-pointer. The small guys were cruising but the big ones are still hanging tight in daylight. They are right on schedule and things will probably bust loose in about 7-10 days.

And yes... the NR Deer Permit is good for all weapons. Some of the counties changed zones this year, so be sure you know the harvest limits and rules for where you are hunting. Good luck!

Weekend update. Bucks were still alone and crusin. Does still have young ones hanging with them. I believe it may turn on a little early this year.

Bowhunted Saturday and Sunday morning.

Saw 2 8's Saturday morning and a few does. The 8's were twins, tight, tall racks and one had really nice mass.

Saw 15 different bucks Saturday evening. One OLD buck, huge body, 10 ptr, I believe he would score in the low mid 140's. 4 other bucks from 105 to 130. Had bowshots at all of them of less than 30 yards. The old buck stayed under me eating acorns for about 25 minutes. Got some really good cell phone video, wish I could get it to post. The old buck at times was walking around the other bucks and his hair was standing up all over his body. The other bucks of course would not have anything to do with him.

Did not see a deer Sunday morning. My brother hunted the stand I have been hunting and I hunted a another stand I hung. Tons of sign where I was, huge rubs but the deer did not move. My brother saw 6 different bucks. I was hoping that old buck would come back by.for him but he didn't . My brother made a nice shot Saturday evening and killed a "small" doe.

There is a good food plot at the stand I am hunting (NO corn, NONE, it is legal but I am not a fan, never have put corn out, never will), turnips and clover, they like both about the same. Maybe gun season, I may go back this weekend but will probably muzzleload hunt here.
